What is Kremstal?

Kremstal is a renowned wine region located in Lower Austria (Niederösterreich),  northeast of Austria. The vineyard has about 2,300 hectares of vines planted.

The climate is cool continental. Summer is short and rainy, continentality is high (temperature difference between the hottest and coldest months), average temperature is less than 16.5°C during the vine growing season.

The classification system in Austria can be quite complicated. It takes into account the level of sugar in grapes: wein, landwein, qualitätswein (the latter containing the prestigious category Prädikatswein).
